Sonnet

Life is ...

Life Is ...

Within thy hands, the shaping of thy fate,
To feel the soul in wondrous joy or woe;
To choose the mood, before it be too late,
And tell the sullen mind to let it go.
Let no base thief steal thy bright sun away,
Nor mar the moments that the heavens sing;
For richer blessings light the busy day,
Than all the petty sorrows Care can bring.
Be not dismayed by trifles, small and vain,
But greet the morning with a cheerful heart;
A soul that treasures life in joy's domain,
And makes of happiness its finest art.
   So live each hour, a blessing to receive,
   And in the power of thy soul, believe.
